Information on the Final Exam application of the 2nd (spring) semester of the academic year 2024/25 by electronic means

Dear Student,

We would like to inform you that the application for the Final Examinaton of the 2nd (spring) semester of the academic year 2024/25 will be organised in the NEPTUN electronic system.

You must apply for the Final Exam, even if you have already submitted your registration in previous semesters.

Please, note that the application is possible only between 7th February 2025 (10:00) – 21st February 2025 (23:59).

If you are planning to take the Final Examination in the 2nd (spring) semester of the academic year 2024/2025, please, read our guide thoroughly, and apply for the Final Examination period (21st May 2025 – 27th June 2025) within the deadline (21st February 2025 (23:59)).

In order to be able to apply for the Final Examination, you must have an active or absolved status in Neptun. If your status is passive, you cannot register for the Final Examination.

Prerequisites of taking the Final Examination*:

  • Obtaining the absolutorium (completing all compulsory courses in your curriculum)
  • Writing and submitting your Thesis via Neptun by the deadline

The order of applications is irrelevant. You can register anytime within the application period. The Final Exam schedule is organised by the Institute/Department responsible for your study programme. 

The exact Final Exam dates will be published on the faculty website by the Office of Educational Affairs until 12th May 2025.

*What is the Final Examination: The student may take the final exam after obtaining the final certificate [absolutorium]. The final exam may be taken in the exam period after the final certificate was obtained both within the framework of the student status and after its expiry within a period of two years in any given exam period in accordance with valid academic requirements. The course and examination regulation shall make taking the final exam subject to conditions after a period of two years following the issuing of the final certificate. Final exams may not be as of the fifth year following the termination of the student’s status. The final exam shall serve to verify and evaluate the knowledge, skills and abilities required for obtaining the diploma, during the course of which the student shall also attest that they are capable of applying the knowledge acquired. The final exam may consist of several sections – the defence of the thesis or diploma, as well as oral, written, and practical tests – in accordance with criteria set out in the curriculum.

Steps of applying for the Final Examination:

Please, log in to your Neptun:

The following step is necessary only, if you are pursuing/have pursued more than one study programmes at ELTE BTK. If you have only one study programme, skip this step: After you logged in, click on “Training” and select the study programme in which you would like to take the Final Examination.

Select the relevant study programme from the drop-down menu of the pop-up window. (If you have only one study programme, skip this step.)

 

 

After selecting the relevant study programme, click on “Administration”:

 

Select “Final exams” from the drop-down menu:

 

Here, you will see the Final Exam registration period. In case you cannot see anything here, contact us at kertesz.emese@btk.elte.hu.

Click on the “+” sign next to the “Final Exam Registration Period 2024/25/2”. The “Register/registration modification” menu will appear

You can apply for the spring Final Exam period by clicking on “Register/registration modification”

After selecting “Register/registration modification", please click to the "Save" button, and then you will receive a notification about the successful registration:

In case you would like to withdraw your application, you can do that until 21st February 2025 (23:59), the same way as you registered:

Go to Administration/Final exams, click on the “+” sign next to the relevant application period and select “Cancel application” in the pop-up window.

After selecting “Cancel application”, the system confirms your deregistration:
