My research focuses on the languages and literature of ancient Mesopotamia. Within this field, I focus primarily on Sumerian grammar and its description using modern descriptive and comparative linguistic methods. I also study the Akkadian language, specifically the linguistic analysis of Old Babylonian texts and the linguistic relationship between Sumerian and Akkadian. 

Within the field of Yiddish linguistics, I specialize in the history of the language. My areas of research include Slavic influences on Yiddish, Yiddish in Hungary, and early and Middle Yiddish texts.
