Intercultural Business Communication MA
kkuk

The MA in Intercultural Business Communication is offered at the Faculty of Humanities of Eötvös Loránd University, one of Hungary’s leading universities, located in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary.

The programme is designed in collaboration with major Hungarian institutions, including the National Bank of Hungary (the country’s central bank) and the OTP Fáy Foundation (an organisation focusing on financial education and professional development). These partnerships ensure that the programme is closely aligned with real-world business needs.

Graduates develop advanced linguistic, intercultural, and organisational competences, enabling them to work effectively in international and multicultural environments. They learn to identify both the opportunities and challenges of cross-cultural collaboration and to support communication within global organisations.

The programme also provides a strong foundation for students who wish to continue to doctoral (PhD) studies.

About the Programme

This programme is ideal for students who want to apply their language and cultural knowledge in an international business context.

The four-semester (120 ECTS) programme prepares flexible and innovative professionals with strong communication and specialised language skills, as well as intercultural and regional expertise. In addition, students gain essential knowledge in business, management, law, and data-related processes.

A key feature of the programme is its practical focus. Students learn to use presentation techniques, data visualisation, and artificial intelligence tools in professional settings.

Students also develop their skills in two foreign languages (or one in the case of Japanese, Chinese, or Korean), while gaining insight into the business and cultural contexts in which these languages are used.

In the second half of the programme, students complete a 120-hour internship, which can be carried out either in Hungary or in another country. This provides valuable hands-on experience in an international or multicultural organisational environment.

Direct Admission (Full Credit Recognition)

Applicants may be admitted to the programme with full credit recognition if they hold:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in any field, or

  • a Master’s or equivalent degree (including integrated or long-cycle degrees awarded prior to the Bologna system).

Applicants should have at least B2 level proficiency (CEFR) in two foreign languages. Language skills are assessed through a written and oral entrance examination.

Programme details

The programme is organised into two main components: Intercultural and Language Studies and Business and Market-Oriented Studies.

Together, these provide a combination of advanced language skills, intercultural and regional expertise, and interdisciplinary knowledge, alongside a foundation in business, management, and legal contexts relevant to international environments.

The programme emphasises student-centred, practice-oriented learning, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and the responsible and effective use of digital technologies.
