My research primarily focuses on zhiqing literature. The zhiqing (educated youth) are Chinese urban youths who were sent down to the countryside during the 1960's and 1970's and wrote about the experience of rustication in their literary works starting from the 1970's. The main objective of the research is to map out the most important directions and themes in the post-2000 development of zhiqing literature.
