Main research areas
The synchronic and diachronic study of the Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, with particular attention to the development of ancient Israelite religion, biblical legal traditions, and the processes by which biblical texts generate meaning.
The study of Syriac Bible translations, primarily the Peshitta translation of the Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, especially the Book of Isaiah, with special attention to translation technique, theological interpretation, and the significance of the Syriac biblical tradition for textual criticism.
The study of scribal culture and textual transmission in Early Judaism, with particular attention to the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Samaritan textual tradition of the Pentateuch / Torah.
The study of variant editions underlying the ancient textual forms of the Hebrew Bible, primarily in the Book of Kings, with particular attention to the knowledge-graph-based digital modelling of relationships between textual witnesses and textual variants.
