Geography and Politics in South America in the 21st century
The Latin America Research Centre (Latin-Amerika Kutatóközpont / Centro de Investigaciones Sobre América Latina) at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, has launched a lecture series with the title "Latin America in the 21st century".

Our next lecture will be:
12 November, Tuesday, 6 PM. Nuno Morgado (Charles University, Institute of Political Science - Prague, Czechia): Geography and Politics in South America in the first decades of the 21st century

These three main topics will be covered:
- Geographical view of South America according to several authors of the Brazilian School of Geopolitics (e.g. Mário Travassos and Golbery do Couto e Silva);
- Comparison of present-day military capabilities of the most relevant South American states;
- Political changes in the sub-continent in the last 20 years (political waves left/right).

Venue: Eötvös Loránd University, Department of Spanish Language and Literature, 1088 Budapest, Múzeum krt. 4/C, Room 278.

The event will be held in English, with no translation. The event is free of charge and open to the public. No previous registration is necessary.
