The First Westernization of Medieval Central Europe
The ELTE Department of Medieval History and the Department of Eastern and Central European History and Historical Russistics invite to the public lecture by Martin Wihoda.

In recent decades, numerous books and studies have been published on the medieval past and formation of East-Central Europe. In 2024, Martin Wihoda, professor at the Department of Medieval History at Masaryk University in Brno, published a new monograph addressing key questions about the westernization of the Central European region and its integration into the West between the 9th and 12th centuries. In his lecture, he will present an excerpt from this work, focusing on the region’s first wave of early Western-style development.
