Revisiting Romanian Mythology in Contemporary Perspectives
ELTE Department of Romanian Philology and Deparment of Folklore invite to the public lecture by Antoaneta Olteanu (University of Bucharest).

Antoaneta Olteanu, an internationally recognized professor of ethnology and Russian literary and cultural history at the University of Bucharest, will present her lecture in English based on the lessons and results of her 3-volume work entitled Mitologie română, published recently in 2021. This latest, large-scale, summary work of the researcher, who is considered the author of several independent books, will soon see the light of day in an English translation.

The presentation sheds light on how the "mythology" of a people can be reviewed in the 21st century, i.e. how the methodology of history and folkloristics can be combined in the exploration of the deep layers of folklore, folk belief, folk religion and folk customs.

Time: 13 November 2023, 15.00
Venue: ELTE Faculty of Humanities, Main Building, Institute of Ethnography and Folklor Library (Ground Flour, 22.)
