Australia Day 2025

The Faculty Council Hall of ELTE Faculty of Humanities hosted Australia Day, organized by the Australian Embassy.

In 2023, the Australian Consulate in Budapest was established at our Faculty, with the honorary consular appointment held by Cecilia Gall, a lecturer at the Department of English Language Pedagogy at ELTE. In collaboration with the consulate, the Embassy organized the Australia Day reception in January 2025.

The event was hosted by HE Ambassador Ian Biggs and his wife Dr. Christine Biggs OEM and was attended by ELTE University leadership, representatives of the diplomatic missions in Budapest, Hungarian foreign affairs officials as well as the local Australian community and Hungarian businesses or friendship groups with Australian ties. The event had a sports theme emphasising the connection between Hungary and Australia.
