Aristotle On Self-Awareness And His Influence
The conference discusses Ancient conceptions of self-awareness. The presentations examine questions raised by Aristotle's On the Soul III.2 as discussed by Aristotle and authors in the Hellenistic era and late-antique Platonists: How can we be aware of our perceptions? How can we explain the unity of perceptual experience? What is the role of self-awareness in the notion of self?
Besides the domestic researchers of the topics (Research Centre for the Humanities, ELTE, PPKE), the contributors include well-known international specialists, as Victor Caston (Michigan), Frans de Haas (Leiden), Miira Tuominen (Stockholm).
