Day of Arabian Culture

The event was organised third time in Hungary, and this year ELTE was chosen as a host since the Faculty of Humanities is the Hungarian centre of Arabic and Oriental studies.

Day of Arabian Culture

ELTE Faculty of Humanities had the honour of hosting the event, The Day of Arabian Culture on 11th April 2019. During the event, visitors had the opportunity to get insight into the customs of the participating 14 Arabian countries via an exhibiton, as well as to taste some traditional food of the countries.

The event was organised third time in Hungary, and this year ELTE was chosen as a host since the Faculty of Humanities is the Hungarian centre of Arabic and Oriental studies.

During the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Gábor Sonkoly, the Dean of the Faculty, Hamad Mohammed Bórhamah, Kuwaiti Ambassador, and László Kövér, Speaker of Hungarian Parliament spoke about the importance of the faculty as a home for oriental studies, and founder of the Contemporary Arabian Centre, and also about the importance of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme that helps international students study in Hungary.

During the afternoon, participants had the opportunity to listen to the Arab Culture Contribution to the World's Civilization lecture series.
